At the 2024 World Championships in Poland, Phoenix was already within reach of a sensation: In one of the tightest World Championship finals in history, she missed the title by just a single buoy and second place by only half a buoy. That razor-thin margin proved even then: Phoenix belongs to the absolute world elite. In Beckum, she finally sealed the deal.

The atmosphere in Beckum was electric. As Phoenix hit the water, the pressure was palpable. As the commentator put it: “She knows exactly what her job is today: To get a podium place, to get a medal, maybe gold.”

After a solid 14-meter round, where she briefly fought some slack but quickly regained her position, the breakthrough came at the 12-meter rope. While her competitors struggled or missed crucial buoys, Phoenix delivered a “benchmark performance.”

The decisive moment came when her main rival, Jana Catherine Meier, unfortunately failed to complete the 12-meter pass. At that moment, it was official: Phoenix Aliyah Baumgardt is the new European Champion.

Despite having already secured the win, Phoenix showed her competitive spirit by attempting a personal best on the 11-meter rope. Although her strength eventually waned, the cheers from the crowd were deafening.

Right after the victory, still at the starting dock, Phoenix was visibly moved and humble:
